Pearl (Sold)

This sculpture is handcarved out of single piece of white translucent alabaster. The title “Pearl” I derived from the soft pearly finish that this white alabaster stone has. Every stone I carve is different and has its own unique characteristics that eventually contributes to the overall look and feel of the final piece. This particular piece of alabaster was a very sensitive stone which requires more of a gentleness while carving and polishing so as to really bring through the stones natural coloration without bruising, cracking, or breaking the stone. I find the alabaster stone compliments the simple whitish color and elegant form of the beautiful Polar Bear.
